Create a Plan
Staff members and their supervisor should have discussions about career goals and opportunities for development. This is formalized through the 色控传媒 annual evaluation and goal setting process (known as the 鈥淧EP Process鈥), but should take place throughout the year.
Creating this plan and having these discussions is a responsibility of both the staff member and the supervisor. Here are excerpts from the 色控传媒 PEP form. The formalization of a plan is captured in Section 2B: Development Plan.
Staff members should consider reviewing the actual requirements from the job description for the position they are seeking that is located on the . Note that particular attention should be paid to the formal education and experience requirements indicated on the job description.

Increase Formal Education and Training
Pursuit of additional education through degree programs, certificates and training courses is often an important element in providing the baseline for career advancement. As technical, professional or leadership responsibility increases, having earned a bachelor鈥檚 or graduate degree can become a minimum requirement for these higher-level positions.
色控传媒 Employee Tuition Assistance - 色控传媒 provides staff up to $5,250 per year in support of tuition for the pursuit of degrees at most colleges and universities through the program.

Gain Needed Experience
In most cases career advancement requires the accumulation of experience that is related to the position to which a staff member aspires. This experience can be gained in the current position over time.
Advancing into supervisory or management roles generally requires staff members to take on responsibilities or projects that demonstrate their leadership abilities and potential. This experience can be gained by volunteering to lead important projects or signing up for and leading committees and special initiatives, for example. Staff members can also train others or work as the informal or formal work lead within the team to gain this leadership experience. Serving in a leadership role outside of the workplace is another way to gain experience in support of a future management role.

Promotion Mechanisms
色控传媒 provides two formal mechanisms for staff promotion, both of which are facilitated by the DUSON human resources team.
Apply and be selected for an open position 鈥 staff are encouraged to remain aware of positions that meet their career progression goals by reviewing regularly positions on the 色控传媒 HR website and the DUSON staff position openings webpage and applying if interested and qualified.

Position Classifications
Each 色控传媒 position has a formal job description that describes the position鈥檚 responsibilities, supervisory reporting relationship and the minimum education and experience requirements for the person employed in the position. Each position is formally classified within the 色控传媒 HR system with a job code, HR title and level. 色控传媒 positions are classified based upon the job description and consider responsibilities, depth, breadth and scope of the role.

As part of the position classification system, 色控传媒 defines pay ranges for most staff positions. These pay ranges are developed after considering the market outside of 色控传媒 for each position and prevailing wages and salary levels being paid by other employers for the same position. 色控传媒 HR updates the pay range for each 色控传媒 position based upon ongoing analysis of the market.
