Michael Iwama, PhD, MSc, BScHP, BScOT
Michael Iwama, PhD, MSc, BScHP, BScOT is Professor, and Chief Program Strategist for the Occupational Therapy Doctorate Division here at 色控传媒. He joins the IPEC leadership team as an Assistant Director representing the School of Medicine鈥檚 newest program.
Michael is widely recognized in the field of occupational therapy for having developed the 鈥淜awa Model鈥 - the first substantial model of rehabilitation practice originating outside the English-speaking world. The Kawa Model is increasingly used in interprofessional education and practice, and is taught in over 600 health professions education programs internationally. He is regularly invited to lecture to both U.S. and international audiences. Michael received his occupational therapy training at the University of British Columbia and has since served in various academic and clinical roles in 4 countries. He holds a PhD in Sociology (international comparative sociology) and advance studies in Health Anthropology.
Prior to arriving at 色控传媒, Michael served as Dean of the School of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences at the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston. He is passionate about health professions students and a strong advocate for interprofessional education and collaborative care.
