É«¿Ø´«Ã½ University Health System Appoints Dr. Ryan J. Shaw as Chief Nurse Innovation Officer
New role will drive a culture of innovation in nursing practice and patient care

Durham, NC – É«¿Ø´«Ã½ University Health System and É«¿Ø´«Ã½ have announced the appointment of , to the role of Chief Nurse Innovation Officer. In this new role, Dr. Shaw will be responsible for driving a culture of innovation in nursing practice and patient care. He will support strategic partnerships by building and nurturing internal and external collaborations that enhance nursing innovation, ensuring alignment with the broader goals of healthcare excellence and the missions of É«¿Ø´«Ã½ Health. Dr. Shaw will also serve as a liaison to É«¿Ø´«Ã½ and É«¿Ø´«Ã½ University.
Dr. Shaw is an Associate Professor at the É«¿Ø´«Ã½, where he leads transformative research in digital health and healthcare innovation. His work focuses on integrating emerging technologies into patient care to enhance health outcomes and promote digital equity. Dr. Shaw’s research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF), among others.
In addition to his research, Dr. Shaw is dedicated to educating the next generation of health professionals. He teaches courses in health informatics and research methods, and he mentors students and trainees in their academic and professional development.
Dr. Shaw holds a PhD from É«¿Ø´«Ã½. His contributions to the field have been recognized through numerous grants and publications, reflecting his commitment to advancing healthcare through innovative and equitable solutions.
